OGDENSBURG Local competitors readying for the June 10 Bar Olympics at Myers Pub might be going up against Olympians from Fort Drum, who are expected to field a team or two for the hotly anticipated tavern games.
At least 13 teams have already signed up for the Bar Olympics at the Ogdensburg pub, the proceeds of which will benefit the FISHCAP Wounded Warriors Bass Tournament taking place later this month on the St. Lawrence River.
The fun at Myers begins at noon on June 10th. A $15 entry fee per team will qualify tavern athletes for any two events, including pool, Cam-Jam, darts, and Texas Washers. A DJ will provide music and food will be available at the pub at 17 Commerce Street.
Don Meissner, FISHCAP coordinator and well-known star of WPBS-TVs Streamside, will be celebrity bartender throughout the day.
All monies raised will go to support the Wounded Warrior Bass Tournament set for June 23rd.
Others supporting the tournament include Ogdensburg VFW Post 2936, Irish Rover Fishing Charter of Henderson Harbor, Three Rivers Taxidermy, and Hosmers Marina in Ogdensburg. Local boaters have volunteered their boats for the tournament.
