POTSDAM Funeral service for Mrs. Selma Helen Reed, 84, will be held Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam with Rev. Lee Sweeney, officiating. Burial will follow in the Bayside Cemetery in Potsdam. Friends may call at Seymour Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mrs. Reed died at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital on Saturday, June 2, 2012, her Husband and children beside her.
Mrs. Reed is survived by her Husband, Morris (Jack) Reed, one daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Alex (Paula) Rutley of Hewittville, one son Edward J. and daughter in law Sherry Reed of West Potsdam, eleven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Five brothers and five sisters predeceased Mrs. Reed.
Selma was born in Potsdam, January 14, 1928 to Joseph and Mayfred Wilmart Russell. She graduated from Potsdam High School in 1945 and was married to Morris J.Reed on May 15, 1948 in the West Potsdam Methodist Church. She always enjoyed cooking and baking for her Family and Friends.
