ITHACA - Brushton-Moira freshman Devin Delisle led the Section 10 golf teams showing at the New York State Championships held at the Cornell University Robert Trent Jones Course.
Delisle, the individual sectional champion, opened with a 78 on Sunday then closed with an 81 on Monday to finish at 159 which put in him a tie for 27th place. Potsdams Ben Stone was the second leading performer for Section 10 with rounds of 85 and 84 for a two-day total of 169 (tied for 60th). Massenas Hunter Francis followed at 174 (83-91, tied for 80th).
Also competing at the state championship for the section were; TJ Roundpoint of Salmon River (93-94-187, 93rd), Kyle Bent of Madrid-Waddington (92-98-190, 95th), Dustin LaValley of Potsdam (95-96-191, 96th), Jayden Wood of Massena (103-93-196, 97th), Evan Hanna of Malone (98-100-198, 98th) and Davis Sprague of Malone (102-103-205, 99th).
Section 10 finished 11th out of the 11 teams with a total of 1,261. Section 8 claimed the team title with a nine-man score of 1,094.
Derek Bard of New Hartford captured the individual state championship, overcoming a three stroke deficit after the first day with a three-under par 69 on Monday to finish with a 143, five strokes ahead of the second-place finisher.
