POTSDAM - High school students from across the north country will celebrate the last regular day of school on Friday.

Many of them will hang out with their friends, perhaps at the mall or a movie, but in Potsdam the place to be will be the high school auditorium, as the Potsdam Key Club will be hosting its annual talent show.

“We’ve got 14 acts,” according to Club President Kaylee M. Peck, adding each of the acts is either a student or group of students from the high school.

“We have a lot of singing acts, but we also have a full band and a percussion act,” she said.

The show will begin at 7 p.m., and admission is only $5.

Ms. Peck said the talent show is an annual end of the year tradition for the club that has been going on for far longer than she can remember.

“We’re just carrying on the tradition,” she said. “The Key Club puts one on every year on the last day of school.”

When asked why she thought the show was always held on the last day of school, Ms. Peck replied, “I think it’s so students don’t have to worry about studying or homework.”

Ms. Peck said prizes will be awarded for first place, second place and third place. A people’s choice award will also be offered.
