AMSTERDAM - And then there were none.
After going 0-for-7 in the first round of the New York State baseball and softball playoffs on Tuesday, Section 10 saw its last remaining team eliminated on Wednesday as the Parishville-Hopkinton baseball team dropped a 13-2 decision to Section 2 champion Fort Ann in a Class D quarter-final round matchup played at Shuttleworth Park.
George Lehoisky struck out five in four innings to earn the win while Mike Burns was saddled with the loss. Zach Newton closed out the mound effort for the Panthers.
Section 2 champion Fort Ann (21-3) blew the game open with a four-run bottom of the third inning to take a 6-1 lead and then scored four more runs in the fourth.
Chris Jackson went 2-for-2 for the Cardinals and Jon Willette drove in three runs while Colby Batchelder drove in two runs.
Burns went 2-for-3 for the Panthers (11-5).
