Former St. Lawrence University goalie Bob Perani died while a passenger on an international flight on April 15. He was 69 years old.
Perani played at SLU from 1964-66 and then played seven years of professional hockey, mostly with the Flint (Mich.) Generals of the International Hockey League.
He stayed in the Flint area after his playing career and opened Peranis Pizza Arena in 1972 and Peranis Sports Shops in 1976.
■ Former Clarkson player Bryan Rufenach died of electrocution according to a report in the Toledo (Ohio) Blade.
Rufenach, who was 23, died around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday in Grindelwald, Switzerland. He was on a backpacking trip with a childhood friend when he climbed aboard a stationary train car, touched the overhead line and was electrocuted.
Rufenach was a defenseman at Clarkson from 2007-11 and spent most of his first full professional season with the East Coast Hockey Leagues Toledo Walleye, He played in 54 games last year and ranked third on the team in points.
