A motorist who slammed his Ford Ranger into six parked vehicles Thursday evening in the parking lot at Olive Garden on outer Arsenal Street was driving under the influence of Spice and two medications, according to the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department.
Jason D. Threadgill, 22, of 1233 Faichney Drive, Apt. 7, admitted to the drug use while being questioned at the scene by deputies and a state trooper, deputies said. He was arrested on charges of driving while under the influence of drugs, reckless driving, driving at a speed not reasonable or prudent, driving an uninsured vehicle and having an obstructed license plate.
The medications he consumed were Vicodin and naproxen, according to the sheriffs office.
Shortly after 7 p.m., deputies said, Mr. Threadgill lost control of his vehicle because of excessive speed in the parking lot. While some patrons were standing in the lot, his vehicle struck one parked auto, then continued on and struck five more, deputies said.
No injuries were reported.
Mr. Threadgill was turned over to the custody of Fort Drum authorities and awaits prosecution in town of Watertown Court.
He had a passenger, identified as Robert J. Palmer, 23, same address. Mr. Palmer was due for arraignment Friday in City Court on an exposure charge, cited by city police the night of May 29 after officers said he was found walking nude on Gaffney Drive.
