Lakers Wins OBGC Senior League Title

The Celtics used the inside/outside combination of Zane Ramsdell and Breton LaRose to record two wins and capture the championship of the OBGC Boys Basketball League this past Wednesday night in action at Thomas P. Luckie Sr. Court. The Celtics downed the Mavs in the playoff finals 65-55 after defeating the Thunder 56-44 in the semis.

The Mavs advanced to the finals by besting the undefeated regular season champion Lakers 58-45 in the other semi-finals. Post-game awards saw the Lakers honored as the regular season champions, the Celtics the play-off champions, Colin O’Bryan as the Outstanding Defensive Player, Zane Ramsdell as the Outstanding Offensive Player and long-time club league participants Matt Kendall and Sean Love earning the Sportsmanship Award for their leadership and effort during the season. The club league continues to be successful because of the volunteer efforts of officials from IAABO Board #47 and the North Country Girls Basketball Board who officiate the games throughout the season.

Finals- Celtics (65) Mavs (55)- Ramsdell 19 points and LaRose 18 points led the way to the championship and Andrew Cole hit his fourth three-pointer of the night after the Mavs had cut the deficit to 5 with two minutes left. Zach Kanaly scored 6 of his 8 points in the decisive fourth quarter. The Mavs were led by Matt Piercey with 23 points and Garret Kinnon with 13.

Semi-Finals- Celtics (56) Thunder (44)- LaRose 19 and Ramsdell 15 led the way again as the Celtics used a 20-12 fourth quarter advantage for to pull-away. Ramsdell jump started the offense by scoring 9 first quarter points. Andrew Cole, Marcus Johnson and Connor Hannan added 6 each. The thunder were led by Matt Kendall with 14 points and Josh Liebstein adding 12.

Semi-Finals- Mavs (58) Lakers (45)- The Mavs upset the Lakers as Matt Piercey 19 points, Garret Kinnon 15 points and Jon Rogers 11 points led a solid team effort. The Lakers were led by Colin O’Bryan with 15 points and Pat Cosmo with 13 points.
