Services for Karen P. Murray, 64 of Rt 56, Norfolk will be held (June 12, 2012) Tuesday morning 10:00 am at the Philips Memorial Home, Massena with Rev Judith VanKennen officiating. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

Karen passed away Thursday evening (June 7, 2012 at St. Peter’s Community Hospice inn in Albany where she had been a patient since Wednesday.

Karen is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Jerry, her daughter Kelli and husband John Newman of Canton, a son Jason and wife Jennifer Murray of Massena, three grandchildren; Karen is survived by her brothers, Duane and wife Nancy Patnode of Saratoga ,NY, Philip Patnode of Albany, NY also surviving Karen are her sisters; Marilyn LaPeter of Massena, Marybeth and Al Mesrobian, Woolwich, Me. Valeria and Jim Gibson of Clifton Park, NY. Yvonne Fuller of Albany and many nieces and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by a sister Joyce Worley.

Karen was born in Massena December 1, 1947 the daughter of Vincent and Thelma (Mitchell) Patnode. She graduated from Massena High School in 1965 and from Canton ATC with an Associate Degree in Nursing. Karen was employed at Canton-Potsdam Hospital in ICU Department for 11 years retiring in 2009.

Karen was married to Jerry F. Murray on April 4, 1970 at St. Joseph’s Church with Rev. George Tobin presiding. Karen enjoyed knitting and crocheting and most of all spending time with her Three Bears (grand-daughters) at the family’s request Karen may be remembered to the Canton-Potsdam Gift Program, 50 Leroy St., Potsdam, NY 13676.
