MASSENA - High school senior Cody Cook is the first winner of the The Roger B. Clough Memorial Scholarship created by the New York State Power Authority linemen crews from Massena, Utica, and Gilboa in remembrance of the former union leader.
Roger B. Clough was a leader in the transmission department at the New York Power Authority serving as a hot stick lineman for over 15 years, as a 757 hot stick Lineman, and also 30 years as the business manager for the International Brotherhood of Electrical workers (IBEW) Local 2032.
The 757 substation was named in honor of him in 2008 as the Roger B. Clough Transmission Center for Massena. He was a leader in the electrical workers field.
This award goes to a student who is continuing in the field of electrical engineering and who exemplifies the characteristics Mr. Clough held in high regard; namely those qualities of perseverance, discipline, and dedication to service.
Keith McClean and Butch Sharlow from the New York Power Authority line crew presented the award for $1,150 to Mr. Cook, who will be attending Clarkson University to study electrical engineering.
