A city man was found unconscious in his pickup shortly after 9 this morning after the truck struck a utility pole at Coffeen and VanDuzee streets.
Donald K. Dean, 37, of 331 Coffeen St., was taken to Samaritan Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Police listed no specific injuries for him.
Mr. Dean was driving his 1998 Dodge pickup west on Coffeen Street when for unexplained cause the truck went off the right side of the road, police said. The pole was sheared in half, and a National Grid crew arrived to replace the pole.
Mr. Dean was cited with aggravated unlicensed operation.
