Burns takes Adirondack Mountain Bike Race
Watertown resident Cory Burns won the 17th annual Black Fly Challenge Adirondack Mountain Bike Race on Saturday, and set a record time for the course in the process.
Burns finished the 40-mile race, which stretches from Inlet to Indian Lake, in 1 hour, 47 minutes, 38 seconds. He beat the old record time by nearly six minutes, and finished first out of 506 participants.
■ Schuyler Deney, also of Watertown, turned in a pair of top three finishes over the weekend.
Deney placed third in the junior division, for 17- and 18-year-olds, at the 41-mile Wilmington-Whiteface Road Race on Saturday. Deney then finished second at the Saranac Lake Downtown Criterium on Sunday, competing in the same division.
