Norwood-Norfolk outlasted Akwesasne 1-0 while Dow Electric outscored FC Freeze 5-4 in North Country Womens Summer Soccer action on Thursday.
N-N 1, Akwesasne 0: In Norfolk, Brittany Pierce broke through for an unassisted goal in the second half and it stood as the game-winner. Jessica Harvey and Amanda Roi combined to backstop the win.
Chrissy Thompson and Terry Benedict shared crease duties for Akwesasne.
Dow Electric 5, FC Freeze 4: In a rematch of last years playoff final at the J Lot field on the grounds of SLU in Canton, Niki Perkins and Kodi Perkins generated two goals apiece to lead the winning effort while Stephanie Cox struck for a singleton.
Steph Collins made nines saves goaltending the win.
In other games reported on Thursday, Edwards-Knox blanked Tons Sports Bar of Potsdam 2-0 and Canton turned back Heuvelton 3-1.
E-K 2, Tons 0: Emily Fuller and Claire Davis netted the goals for E-k while Nicky French and Katie Hill combined to make five saves backstopping the shutout.
Christin Powers handled nine shots in the losing cause.
