CORNWALL, Ont. - The Cornwall River Kings had the first overall pick in their first North American Hockey League (NAHL) draft over the weekend and chose former Washington Captials first rounder Sasha Pokuluk to patrol the blueline.
Other players chosen include former Cornwall Colts Jeff Legue (3rd round) and former Salmon River Central standout Ian Boots (7th round). They also took local players Brennan Barker (4th round) and Jonathan Jasper (10th round).
Other River Kings draft picks include Ryan Jardine, Brett Clouthier, Pat Kavanaugh, Steve McJannet, Ryan Sullivan, Marco Cousineau, Nick Kuiper, Stephane Lachapelle,
The River Kings also made a trade on draft day sending Yannick Tremblay, Mathieu Dumas, Louis Menard, Alex Gagne, David Chicoine to Rivere Du Loup for Yves Saurrault, Karl Fournier, Loic Lacasse, and draft picks 15 and 64 overall which turned out to be Legue and Lachapelle.
Director of Hockey Operations Mitch Gagne stated the team was very pleased with the results of the league draft.
