GREAT BEND Carthage Central School District finally has a new assistant superintendent.
During a special meeting Friday morning, the Board of Education announced that Andrea K. Miller, middle school and summer school principal, will assume the role July 10. The board also announced her formal resignation as principal.
The board made a commitment that the new superintendent would be involved in the interview process, interim Superintendent Judy L. Waligory said. They narrowed the field down and Mr. Turner selected the finalist.
Mrs. Miller was selected as the middle school principal in 1999. Previously, she served as the guidance counselor and psychologist in the building for 21 years. She serves on the district planning team, building planning team and various middle school teams. She is certified in school administration, a requirement for the position.
Mrs. Miller will replace interim Assistant Superintendent Mark D. Sissel. Mr. Sissel was named interim after former Assistant Superintendent Jan B. LaRock resigned in September.
Incoming superintendent Peter J. Turner will start looking for a new middle school and summer school principal when he begins on July 2.
I think this is a good move for the district, said Mrs. Waligory. This was the goal of the boards since the fall.
