NORFOLK — The next member of the Norwood-Norfolk Central School District Board of Education will need to run for the seat.

Board of Education members agreed Tuesday night to hold a special election to fill a seat no one wanted during the May election.

Superintendent Elizabeth A. Kirnie said that the district would need 45 days to advertise the post and that it would cost $400 to set up the voting machine. Officials also would need to consider the cost of hiring the tellers.

The district will use paper ballots to reduce costs. “Even if we use machines, it’s under $1,000,” she said.

A vacancy exists after only two candidates — incumbents Thomas W. Scott and George D. Fulk — ran for seats in May’s election. No petitions were turned in for the seat that had been held by Lisa Levison, who opted not to seek another term.
