Allied Health students take part in spring conference

NORWOOD - This year 23 students from the Allied Health Program at Seaway Career and Technical Education Center, Norwood, attended the annual “Health Occupations Students of America” (HOSA) Spring Conference in Syracuse.

The conference is held for those students who are interested in all aspects of health careers.

Seaway Tech students participated in competitions featuring knowledge tests in Medical Terminology, Health Care Concepts and Pharmacology.

In addition, students competed in the Career Health Care display, Prepared Persuasive Speaking, Biomedical Debate, Medical Photography, HOSA Bowl, Prepared Speaking and Job Seeking Skills, giving the students experience sharing their knowledge and academic abilities.

Professional dress and behavior were also evaluated. Medals were won in several competitions. This is an amazing opportunity for these seniors to demonstrate quality leadership, communication and professional skills. This experience gave students a glimpse of the many opportunities that are available to them in the health careers field and what is needed to achieve their goals. All of the students in the Allied Health program have been accepted into college to further their education in health care.
