Lewis Planning Board approves reopening of Beaver Falls convenience store

LOWVILLE — The Lewis County Planning Board has approved a plan to reopen a convenience store and deli in Beaver Falls.

The board by a 5-0 vote Thursday approved an application submitted by Russell J. Prashaw to reopen the former Beaver Falls Mini-Mart at Route 126 and Deveines Road in the town of New Bremen.

The store has been closed for the past several years, and underground gasoline tanks have been removed.

The site plan still must be approved by the New Bremen Town Council because the town does not have a separate planning board.

The county Planning Board suggested that the council request specific information on parking, signs and lighting, consider whether any changes should be made to the intersection to improve safety and check with the state Department of Transportation for signs or traffic concerns.

Mr. Prashaw, owner of Rusty P’s tavern in Crystal Dale, bought the property last fall from Landmark Investors Group for $22,500, according to county land records.

The county Planning Board also approved the following:

n Addition of two to five 10-by-40-foot self-storage units at a car wash on Kirschnerville Road in the town of New Bremen, just outside the village of Croghan.

n Extension of a roof to cover a patio/outdoor display area at Lowville Mason Supply on Bostwick Street.

n A proposed amendment to town of Greig zoning law for subdivisions that would include more specific regulations on roads created by subdivisions, lot line adjustments and mergers.
