POTSDAM - Stephanie Cox connected with three minutes left in regulation to help lift Dow Electric to a 1-0 win over Tons Sports Bar in a North Country Womens Summer Soccer matchup staged at SUNY Potsdams Rt. 56 field on Tuesday.
Steph Collins handled the three shots she faced to backstop the shutout while Liz Durfee made 10 saves in the losing cause.
In other games on Tuesday, Harrisville edged Norwood-Norfolk 1-0, FC Freeze beat Edwards-Knox 6-2, Potsdam Two dropped Heuvelton 8-0 and Canton downed Massena Savings and Loan 2-0.
Harrisville 1, N-N 0: At the NNCS varsity field, Jeri Baker finished off a play set up by Katlyn Hart in the first half and Harrisville made it stand for the win.
Sami Round worked the crease for the shutout while Mickey Frego and Amanda Roi shared goaltending duties in the loss.
FC Freeze 6, E-K 2: Eileen Coyle netted two goals and helped set up two others as the Freeze ran out to a 3-0 halftime lead then answered the first E-K goal early in the second half with two quick strikes a minute apart to put the game out of reach. Sara Elliott (1 assist), Holly Fanning, Sherri Peck and Breanne Hayes scored the other Freeze goals while Emily Sloan fashioned a pair of assists.
Alex Weston posted six saves backstopping the win.
