Elva G. Kindgren, aged 100, a resident of United Helpers Nursing Home since 2008, died on Thursday June, 28 2012. She was born to the late Rufus and Eva (Crawford) Brown in Ogdensburg, New York on July, 26, 1911. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband F. Gunnar Kindgren, Her brother Paul R. Brown, and half-sisters Eva May Brown and Ethel Barth.

She is survived by her nephew Robert J. (Rebecca) Brown, Florida, dear friend Muriel (Moonie) Morley, Ogdensburg, great nephews Douglas (Sharon) Brown, Maryland, Gary (Eleanor) Brown, Connecticut, and great niece Julie (Philip) Dodd, Maryland. Through her marriage to Gunnar, many relatives in Sweden, with whom she continued to correspond, also survive her as do many Canadian relatives in southern Ontario.

She worked for many years in the F. W. Woolworth Five and Dime, and in Bill White’s office supplies, souvenir and florist stores.

She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church for over 85 years where she served on many committees and sang in the choir. Her many friends knew her as one who was always ready to help wherever needed. She did so without complaint but with a smile and laughter.

When asked what the secrets had been to her quality life, she listed:

-Being born in simpler times, raised in a nurturing environment by loving parents and siblings.

-Being faithful to her church and living to please God.

-Having an appreciation for the past, being aware of the present, and having hope for the future.

Visitation hours will be held Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the Frary Funeral Home at 515 Caroline Street from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral Services will be at the Frary Funeral Home at 10:00am on Monday July 2, 2012 with Pastor David Piatt.

Burial beside her late husband Gunnar will follow in the Ogdensburg cemetery.
