NORWOOD - The 31th Annual AMA Amateur National Motocross race held at Loretta Lynns ranch is the largest amateur motocross race in the world and a top ten there gives a rider instant national notoriety and can serve as a stepping stone to a professional motocross career.
Madison Seguin is 13 yrs. old and will be entering eighth grade at Norwood-Norfolk in the fall. She participates in a lot of sports, including, soccer, running, basketball, and her favorite sport is motocross. She has put a lot of time and energy into all these sports but spends most of her time competing in motocross races almost every weekend from April thru October. She has been racing since she was six years old and travels all over New York State and surrounding states to compete.
This year she has qualified to race in the girls 12-15 class in the 31st Annual AMA Amateur National Motocross race in Tennessee from July 29th thru August 4th. This race features the top 40 riders in their class in the US, Canada and abroad. During the qualifying process she had to race in an area qualifier which includes riders from NYS, and place in the top 8. She qualified in the 1st position. Then she had to move on to a Northeast qualifier, which includes all the northeast states from Maine down to Virginia. There were also girls there from as far away as North and South Carolina and Alabama . In this qualifier she had to place in the top five to move on to the National race and she placed third.
With the help of sponsors such as Seguins Construction and her Dad and Mom, she has been able to compete at these races. She is however looking for donations to help defray the cost of entry fees and travel expenses for her trip to Hurricane Mills TN, to compete in this National race. Estimated costs are in the $4,000-$5,000 range.
Any little bit will help so she is asking for the public to kindly help her achieve her dream as a Professional Womens motocross rider.
She and her family want to thank you for taking time to read this and say that if you are able to donate (whether big or small) they really appreciate your interest in helping her achieve her dream.
Donations can be sent to 1945C County Route 38 Norfolk NY 13667 or can be picked up, just call 315-769-0839. Family and friends will also be holding a car wash/bottle drive this Saturday at Bobs Auto on Main St. Norwood from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
