Massena- Joseph A. Guilbert, 70, of Baldwin Ave, passed away Monday (July 9, 2012) evening at the Massena Memorial Hospital where had been a patient since late June.

Prayer services for Joe will be held on Saturday morning (July 14, 2012) at the Phillips Memorial Home at 11:00 am, with Rev. Donald J. Manfred officiating. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home starting at 9:00 am until the time of services. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Joe is survived by his wife Nancy, a son Jeff of Norfolk, VA, his daughters; Kim Gibson, Kathy Pierce and Julie Smith all of Norfolk, VA. Four step daughters, Tammy Nasland, Tacoma, WA,, Lisa Salazar of Raleigh, NC, Amanda Rettenmeyer of Apex, NC. Joe is also survived by his brother Conrad Guilbert of Massena and his two sisters, Rita Guilbert of Las Vegas, NV and Louise Fowler also of Massena. Joe was predeceased by a step daughter Tina Mesa on December 27, 2007.

Joe was born June 24, 1942 in Massena the son of Real and Aline (Marion) Guilbert. Joe served in the US Navy from 1959 until his Honorable Discharge from the Reserves in 1969 proudly serving on the USS Enterprise. Joe was employed with US Airways as a lead mechanic with 30 years of service.

Joe married Nancy Cappiello December 27, 1980 in Cary, NC.

Joe and his wife enjoyed camping at various sites throughout New York State. Joe was a member of the American Legion Post # 79. Memorial contributions may be offered to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
