"MASSENA - The National Weather Service is predicting scattered strong to severe thunderstorms will be developing across the north country today as a strong cold front moves into the area.
The potentially severe storms will move into Northern New York by early afternoon and then progress across the region through the afternoon and evening hours.
The National Weather Service says the primary threat from the storms will be damaging winds, with flash flooding and large hail being secondary hazards.
The Weather Channel is predicting the first thunderstorms will hit the Potsdam area shortly after 3 p.m., with the strongest storms hitting between 5 and 7 p.m.
There were reports of numerous power outages and lines down in Potsdam, Nicholville and Hopkinton as the first line of storns rolled through.
