CARTHAGE — Carthage Central School District Superintendant Peter Turner has confirmed that Robert Alexander resigned from his position as athletic director.

Turner said that he has posted an opening for the position, and that they will, “wait to go from there.”

According to Alexander, his last day as athletic director was this past Friday. He has taken a position at Indian River.

Alexander was appointed to the district athletic director position for Carthage in the summer of 2009. Before that, he had been a physical education teacher for the Indian River Central School District 12 years, and was also a football and boys swimming coach.

Indian River Central School District Superintendant James Kettrick confirmed that Alexander will be the new assistant high school principal.
