FORT DRUM Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has directed that flags on state government buildings be flown at half-staff Tuesday in honor of two soldiers from the post killed Wednesday.
Sgt. Jose J. Reyes, 24, of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, and Sgt. Daniel A. Rodriguez, 28, of Baltimore were killed when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device in Ghazni City, Afghanistan. They were heavy vehicle drivers with the 110th Transportation Company, 548th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade.
I join with all New Yorkers in mourning the loss of Sergeant Reyes and Sergeant Rodriguez, Mr. Cuomo said in a statement issued by his office. I send my deepest sympathies to their families, friends and fellow soldiers. We will honor the service of these two Fort Drum soldiers and we will be forever grateful for their dedication to our nation.
