Mr. Edward Morgan Lenney, age 93 of Potsdam, New York passed away on July 22, 2012 at the United Helpers Maplewood Campus. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, July 26th at 10 am at St. Patrick’s Church in Colton, New York with Rev. Jay McGinnis celebrant. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Wednesday, July 25th from 4-7pm. Burial for both Edward and his wife Rita Lenney will take place the following week on August 3rd at 11:30 am at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Colton with Msgr. Robert Aucoin celebrant. Contributions in Edward’s name can be made to St. Patrick’s Church. Online condolences can be sent @www.garnerfh.com.

Mr. Lenney is survived by his sons Edward Lenney II of Rochester, NY and Richard Lenney and spouse Susan of Scotia, NY; his daughters Karen Lenney and spouse Gary Wallace of South Colton and Ann Lenney and spouse Robert Stack of Leonia, New Jersey; his grandchildren Erin, Kelsie and Morgan Lenney, Kathryn and Margaret Stack, and Dorian Lenney-Wallace and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Rita who passed in 2005, his brothers Jerome and Mark Richard Lenney and his sisters Dorothy Chapman, Catherine Kunz and Charlotte Seawell.

Mr. Edward Morgan Lenney was born on January 18, 1919 in Potsdam, New York to the late Bernard and Irene Morgan Lenney. He was a graduate of Potsdam Central School. He then attended Clarkson College of Technology for one year until he was drafted by the United States Army. He served overseas in the South Pacific for five years until his honorable discharge. Upon returning home he married Rita McGinnis in 1948. He then returned to Clarkson and went on to receive his Bachelor’s of Business Administration. Ed worked at Lenney’s Grocery store for a few years. He then was the owner and operator of Western Auto in Potsdam for 15 years. He then signed on with Parishville- Hopkinton Central School and was a business teacher there until his retirement in 1980. Mr. Lenney was a member and past Exalted Ruler of the Potsdam Elks Lodge.
