AGGRAVATED DWI - POTSDAM - A 52-year-old Freeport man was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated early Thursday morning after he reportedly backed into a Potsdam Police Department following a traffic stop on Cherry Street.
Gary A. Taylor was also ticketed for unsafe backing snd failure to use designated lane following the stop at 1:52 a.m. Thursday.
Village police said an officer initiated the traffic stop after Taylor allegedly failed to use the designated lane when he turned from Market Street onto Cherry Street. Police said during the traffic stop Taylot backed into the police vehicle.
Taylor reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.22 percent. A driving while intoxicated charge (0.08 percent or higher) is elevated to aggravated DWI when the BAC is 0.18 percent or higher.
He was released on an appearance ticket.
