Waddington Homecoming events scheduled

WADDINGTON — The town will hold its 2012 Homecoming on Aug. 3, 4 and 5. This year’s theme is “Small Town, U.S.A.”

“It’s going to be a very busy weekend,” according to Nancy M. Putney, Homecoming coordinator. “We have 130 vendors at the craft show and more music this year.”

Homecoming buttons are available for sale at a number of businesses, including Waddington True Value and Community Bank. Buttons cost $1 each and were designed by artist Patti Van Patten. Money rasied from the button sale will fund Homecoming events.

Aug. 3

10 a.m. — The Pet Show will be held at Town Hall Square. For more information, contact June Dumas 388-5674.

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — The Waddington Hepburn Library book sale will be held in the library’s Community Room.

11:30 a.m. — Teddy Bear Picnic at the Town Beach. For more information contact Benny or Jamie Fairchild at 388-5628.

1 p.m. — The Sand Castle Contest will be held at the Town Beach. The contest will be sponsored by the Recreation Committee.

5 p.m. — The Dedication of the Memorial Monument for exempt Waddington Fire Department members at Waddington Fire Hall.

5:30 to 7 p.m. — Ice Cream Social will be held at the Methodist Church, 116 Lincoln Ave. For more information, contact 388-5568.

6:15 p.m. — The Homecoming Opening Ceremony will be held at the Town Hall Square.

6:30 p.m. — The Diaper Derby will be held at the Town Hall Square. For more information, contact Shelly Campbell 528-6938.

7 p.m. — Lip Sync will be held at Town Hall Square. The event is sponosred by Phillips Memorial Homes; Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. For more information, contact Sheryl Evans at 276-0016.

9 p.m.—Acoustic Brothers will perform at the Town Hall Square.

Aug. 4

7 a.m.—A pancake breakfast will be held at the Mehodist Chruch, 116 Lincoln Ave. For more information contact 388-5568.

9 a.m.—Five K Run from Island View park. The run is sponsored by the Waddington Volunteer Fire Department. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. For more information, contact Toby Bogart at 388-5581.

9 a.m. to 2 p.m.—The Waddington Hepburn Library will hold a book sale at the Library Community Room.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—Car Show Island View Park sponosored by Waddington Volunteer Fire Department. Registration will be at 10:30 a.m.—For more information contact Scott Kocher at 388-4801.

10 a.m. No Octane Go Cart Race; Pine Street. For more information, contact Mark Hill at 388-5944.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.—Music by Donna Miller with Summertime Songs will be held at the Gazebo.

11 a.m.—A chicken barbecue will be held at the fire hall.

1 p.m. to 3 p.m.—Music by David Nichols and Spare Change will be held at the Town Hall Square.

2:30 p.m.—A bed race will be sponosored by Mack’s Tavern. For more information, contact 388-5862.

3:30 p.m.—Kountry Rebels II Line Dancers will be held at the Town Hall Sqaure.

5 p.m.—Parade Lineup will be at Linden and Fenton streets.

6 p.m.—Parade from Lagrasse Street to Island View Park. For more information, contact John Mikolay at 388-5983.

7 p.m.—Music by Double Barrel Blues will be held at Island View Park.

8 p,m.—13th Annual Duck Race. For more information, contact Sue Caswell at 388-4309.

Dusk- Fireworks will be held at Island View Park.

Aug. 5

9 a.m.—Homecoming Church Service will be held at the Presbyterian Church.

Noon—Community Picnic will be held at the Town Beach. The event will be catered by Seaway Diner & Smokehouse.

2 p.m.—Tube Race Town Beach to Island View Park. For more information contact John Dineen at 388-4360.
