NEWARK Joe Landi belted a three-run homer run in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Newark Pilots a 5-1 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League victory over the Watertown Wizards at Colburn Park on Friday night.
The loss by the Wizards (17-25) eliminates them from playoff contention.
Newark (24-19) scored all five runs in the fifth inning. Cullen Babin picked up the win by pitching eight shutout innings.
Brandon Cipolla homered for the Wizards only run. Nick Bradley took the loss.
Watertown had the bases loaded in the eighth inning, but failed to score.
The Wizards return home to face the Elmira Pioneers at 7 p.m. today.
