MASSENA - Village police are searching for an aggressive approximately five-foot long snake that was seen outside a Northview Drive residence shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday.
Police said a Massena resident reported he had seen a snake reported to be five-feet long and four-inches wide outside his residence.
Police said they responded to the area and learned a small snake, with similar markings as the larger snake, had been last seen under some stone near a garage on Marie Street.
Police resumed their search for the snakes this morning, and anyone who sees a large snake is asked to immediately call Massena Village Police at 769-3577.
Chief Timmy J. Currier released a statement shortly before noon Friday on the incident.
Anyone that comes into contact with an aggressive snake should avoid it and contact the police department immediately, Mr. Currier said.
Also, if there is anyone that is missing a pet snake, please contact us with information on it, so we can take the appropriate action of notification to the public.
