State police arrested two Gouverneur men Thursday in the investigation into burglaries in the town of Philadelphia and city of Watertown.

A third arrest is anticipated.

Tyler W. Wells, 20, of 18 Johnstown Road, faces three counts of third-degree burglary, occurring in the city, while Ashley D. Fifield, 27, of 140 W. Main St., is cited in two counts in the town of Philadelphia. They were being held Friday in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, with bail set for each at $15,000 by LeRay Town Justice John W. Hallett.

The third person will be charged in the Watertown and Philadelphia incidents, an investigator said.

Mr. Wells is accused on three intrusions during July at Stafford Machine and Cyclotherm, both at 787 Pearl St., where the total value in theft of copper wire and welding equipment and in vandalism was set at $11,961. Watertown police assisted in that investigation.

Mr. Fifield is accused in two intrusions at a barn on the property of Victor Delles, County Route 30, town of Philadelphia, also in July, when tractor batteries, copper wire and welding equipment were stolen, police said.
