WADDINGTON – Village trustees will take the next month to review their options before voting on whether to sell or develop village properties.
The two properties, located on Green St. and River Rd., were returned as part of the 2003 relicensing settlement with the New York Power Authority for the St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project
They were not given to us directly after the relicensing, Mayor Janet M. Otto-Cassada said at Mondays meeting. Its property that has been given to us periodically, and were just trying to figure out what can be done with them.
Mrs. Otto-Cassada asked trustees to take a month to individually review and inspect the properties while she and the village clerk gather property information such as acreage, deeds, and surveys.
We havent discussed an appraisal, said Mrs. Otto-Cassada. Were trying to figure out first what to do with the land before we move forward.
Several preliminary ideas were discussed such as selling, bidding or developing the land.
Trustees have already considered constructing a boat launch on part of the River Rd. property. The launch would be for non-motorized boats such as kayaks and canoes.
Some trustees expressed their concerns about how potential flood easements could affect the sale or development of the land.
Mrs. Otto-Cassada said the board will review its ideas in either Sept. or Oct.
The next village board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 3 in the Municipal Building, 48 Maple St.
