RECKLESS DRIVING - MASSENA - Village police charged Joshua J. Love, 21, of 139 North Main St., Masssena, with reckless driving, illegally passing through a red light and littering following an incident at 5:15 p.m. Monday on Grove Street.
A town of Massena woman told police she was turning onto Route 37 eastbound from Grove Street and a black Jimmy turned \into his lane and then served toward her vehicle, she said in the statement she provided to police.
She said her daughter flipped off the driver of the Jimmy, and he responded by speeding up, getting next to her vehicle and then swerving at her again. She said that time she went off the road and onto the rumble strips on the shoulder of the highway to avoid a collision. She said the Jimmy then pulled ahead of her and the occupants of the sports utility vehicle started throwing garbage out of their vehicle into the path of her vehicle.
She said she made a 911 call and initially had contact with a state trooper who told her the case needed to be turned over to the village police since it happened within the village limits. St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police stopped the Jimmy and identified Love as the vehicles operator. He was turned over to village police and ticketed.
