ASSAULT - MASSENA - Village police charged Christopher H. Pettitt, 24, of 88 Bayley Road, Massena, with third-degree assault fat 9:45 p.m. Wednesday following an incident that took place at his residence. He reportedly bit Sandra Moerlin on the lip during a domestic dispute. He was arraigned by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $1,000 cash or bond.
Ms. Moerlin, in her statement to police, said Pettit had several drinks and was upset that his daughters friend was at their residence. Chris got upset with me, saying I never listen to what he has to think. Chris pushed me and wouldnt let me leave the bedroom, she noted in her statement to police.
She said her 12-year-old daughter then intervened, and Petitt started yelling at her. Ms. Moerlin said she got between Pettit and her daughter and told her boyfriend to leave the residence. Chris wouldnt leave. Then Chris grabbed both my arms and bit my lip, she told police.
Ms. Moerlin was taken to Massena Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injury.
The domestic incident report indicated Pettit had admitted consuming six to seven Twisted Ice Teas before the incident. The report indicated Ms. Moerlin had left a blood trail in her bedroom and the upstairs hallway from her injury.
