Irene Tichenor


OWENSBORO –Irene Tichenor 90, of Owensboro, Kentucky, formerly of Calhoun died Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Carmel Home in Owensboro. Irene Mary Clement was born September 22, 1921 in Massena, New York to the late Charles William and Aurora Hemond Clement and was married to William Gates Tichenor, Sr. on January 2, 1945. Irene was a homemaker, a member of SS. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church in Owensboro, and an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II. She enjoyed painting, swimming, and spending time with both her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bill Tichenor, who died February 27, 2005; by two sons, Lloyd M. Tichenor and Howard James Tichenor; and by a grandson, William Foster Tichenor. Survivors include four sons, Gates Tichenor and wife, Trudy, Todd Tichenor both of Calhoun, Charles Tichenor of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Carey Tichenor and wife, Debbie of Versailles; five grandchildren, Mark Tichenor, Kelly Tichenor, Stephanie Wiseman, Lauren Tichenor, and Michelle Tichenor; 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Clement of Haynes City, Florida; and two sisters-in-law, Jacinta Garinger of Owensboro and Elaine Clement of Massena.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Calhoun with Father John Okoro officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post # 5415. Friends may visit with Irene’s Family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday and from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Monday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Prayer services and a video tribute of Irene’s life will be held at 7:00 P.M. Sunday at Musters in Calhoun.

The Irene Tichenor Family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Carmel Home, Building Fund; 2501 Old Hartford Road; Owensboro, Kentucky 42301. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.
