MASSENA - A Massena woman charged with altering a prescription so she to receive more painkillers was fined after pleading guilty to a reduced count.

Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson fined Elecia J. Hooper, 28, of 15 Smith Road, Massena, $100 and a $205 surcharge and placed her under a one-year conditional discharge for a third-degree forgery conviction.

Hooper admitted she had altered a prescription written for her boyfriend after he had dental work from 12 to 42 and then presented the script at Walgreen’s on Dec. 5, 2011.

She had been charged with felony counts of forgery and criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Prior to sentencing, St. Lawrence County Assistant Public Defender Alison Appleby noted the pre-sentence report pointed out Hooper had undergone a substance abuse evaluation and no treatment had been recommended. “My client has been very upfront about this,” she said.

In other recent court action before Judge Gustafson:

■ Nolan P. Mitchell, 23, of Maple Street, Massena, had a third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance count sent up to superior court. He allegedly sold a quantity of Oxycontin to another person on Oct. 7, 2011 in the village of Massena.

■ Ashley Rushlow, 28, of 112 Trippany Road, Massena, was ordered to pay a $125 surcharge for a second-degree harassment conviction. She was also placed under a one-year conditional discharge, and the court signed a no harassment order of protection.

She was charged with striking Heather Deragon several times on Sept. 10 after police had responded to a domestic dispute complaint between Rushlow and Alan Green.

According to police, Rushlow had allegedly refused to leave the residence at 187 Center St. when requested to so by Mr. Green, 19, who lived there.

Police said Ms. Deragon was telling officers about Rushlow’s behavior when she walked over and punched Ms. Deragon a few times.
