The hospitalization of two juvenile girls Tuesday night for apparent overdoses of a prescription drug resulted Wednesday in the arrest of a 16-year-old girl on felony and misdemeanor charges, according to Watertown police.
Kayla A. North, 26 Emerson Place, Apt. 26, is charged with two counts each of fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child. She awaits prosecution in City Court and possible grand jury action.
Police allege that she provided Concerta, a prescription medication for the treatment of attention deficit disorder, to the two girls, ages 12 and 14, at her residence about 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Nearly five hours later, Guilfoyle Ambulance was dispatched to a residence on North Hamilton Street to attend to the girls, who initially were reported to have overdosed on a heart medication.
The two were treated at Samaritan Medical Center and later discharged, police said.
