Massena teen jailed for throwing rocks at car in Louisville

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - LOUISVILLE - A Massena teenager made at least two mistakes early Friday morning.

He threw rocks at a vehicle that didn’t stop when he was hitchhiking on state Route 37 shortly before 2:40 a.m. Friday in the town of Louisville. He then dialed 911 and asked for a ride.

James C. Delosh, 18, of 168 Jefferson Ave., ended up getting a ride, but sheriff’s deputies ended up taking him to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, not this residence.

Deputies charged Delosh with third-degree criminal mischief. He was arraigned by Massena Town Justice James M. Crandall and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $500 cash or $1,000 bond.

Elizabeth Harper, in her statement to deputies, said she was driving a 2010 Jeep owned by Blevin’s Brothers of Ogdensburg early Friday morning on Route 37 when she saw two males standing in the roadway. She said she pulled to the right and a third male, later identified as Delosh, threw a rock that struck the driver’s side door. She said she immediately reported the incident to 911 and was told to drive to a safe location. She said she turned around and headed back to the Louisville town highway garage, passing the three men a second time and the same male threw a second rock that struck the roof of her vehicle. Joshua J. Love told deputies he and his brother, Justin, were walking with their cousin, Delosh, when he was trying to get a ride from passing motorists. They said a short time after Delosh made his 911 call looking for a ride several police officers arrived at the scene. Deputies reported the time of arrest at 2:40 a.m.
