MALONE - Fire and EMS departments from Malone, Constable, and Bangor and New York State Police responded to a fatal car-ATV accident just north of Malone on state Route 30 at its intersection with Town Line Road at 6:07 p.m. Wednesday.
Names were not being released Wednesday night, but reports from the scene indicated one person was dead and two people were taken to Alice Hyde Medical Center for treatment.
Its not good, Franklin County Director of Emergency Services Ricky Provost said.
Malone Assistant Fire Chief Paul Langdon said the accident will be investigated by the New York State Police Troope B Collision Reconstruction Unit.
Constable resident Sheryl Hutchins was visiting a friend who lives across from the scene and said she heard the crash and saw one of the victims on the ground next to the wrecked vehicles.
All I heard was a big bang, I thought it was an explosion. I called 911, Hutchins said. I saw the car next to the trees. There was a little boy lying on the ground.
A silver SUV could be seen with its tail end sticking out of trees on the west side of Route 30, about 10 yards south of the Town Line Road intersection. A red ATV could be seen next to it.
