GRAND LARCENY - MASSENA A Moira man and a Fort Covington woman accused of shoplifting twice were arrested by state police shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Samuel F. Westurn, 34, and Susan M. Westurn, 53, were both charged by Massena-based state police with felony fourth-degree grand larceny and misdemeanor petit larceny.
In addition, Ms. Westurn was charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Theyre accused of stealing several items, including clothing from JCPenney at the St. Lawrence Centre in Massena and computers from Walmart in Massena. The incident was first reported at 6:08 p.m. Wednesday.
Though the total value of the items wasnt released by police, fourth-degree grand larceny is charged when the total exceeds $1,000. Troopers did not specify if or how the pair are related or what controlled substance Ms. Westurn is alleged to have possessed.
Both were issued appearance tickets and released.
