ILLEGAL PURCHASE - POTSDAM - Village police charged Adam J. Wright,

19, of Lockport with attempting to purchase alcohol through fraudulent means at

5p.m. Wednesday. Police said Wright attempted to use a fake Pennsylvania license to buy alcohol at a local Market Street business. He left the business when he realized that police had been called and was later contacted by a patrol and turned himself in at the police department. He was released on an appearance ticket.



SPEEDING - POTSDAM - Village police ticketed Jacob R. Voelker, 19, of Sherrillfor speeding following a traffic stop at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday on Maple Street. He was reportedly traveling 45 mph in a 30 mph zone.

0706 Officer responded to a barking dog complaint.

0838 Patrols dispatched to a commercial burglar alarm at a down town business.

0948 Dispatched Potsdam Rescue to a call at Clarkson University for a male student.

1107 Assisted another police agency with an investigation.

1120 Patrol assigned to conduct a background investigation on a pistol permit applicant.

1329 Found credit card turned into the PD. The owner was located, and the card was returned

1418 Responded to a local business after receiving a report a male attempted to purchase alcohol with a fake ID. A patrol responded, but the suspect had left the area. He was later tracked down and charged with the purchase of alcohol through fraudulent means.

1430 Patrols responded to the intersection of Pine Street and Sandstone Drive several times over a 1 hour period as work that CSX was performing on the railroad tracks was causing the traffic lights to malfunction backing traffic up. Patrols directed traffic. Both the police department and 911 fielded a high volume of calls from frustrated motorists.

1459 Assisted the Department of Corrections with an investigation.

1513 Dispatched Potsdam Rescue to a call.

1538 Assisted another police agency with an investigation.

1614 A woman reports her car was broken into, and her credit card was used at a local gas station. The investigation continues.

1643 Fielded a call of an attempted scam of an elderly resident of the village.

1643 Received a report of a missing cell phone.

1727 Dispatched Potsdam Rescue to a call.

1730 Harassment complaint. No arrest.

2004 Burglar alarm at a financial institution on Market Street.

2034 Property damage accident on Madrid Avenue. Operator fled the scene. Investigation continues.

2225 Traffic stop. Ticket issued.

2323 Traffic stop. Ticket issued.

Jacob M. Tierney(20) of Rochester, NY, was issued a traffic ticket for speeding on Maple Street, 45 mph. The ticket is returnable in Potsdam Village Court on 09/19/2012 at 09:30am.
