RENSSELAER FALLS - The annual Remington II canoe and kayak race will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m., starting in Rensselaer Falls and finishing in Heuvelton at the dam.
The race is approximately 6 miles long with classes for competitive and recreational canoes and kayaks.
The entrance fees are $5 for under 18, $10 for military/ veterans.$15 for St. Lawrence Valley Paddlers members and $20 for non-members.
The first 30 registered will receive commemorative base-ball caps.
Registration will be on West Front street in Rensselaer Falls (remember the bridge is out), starting at 8:30am on the morning of the race.
Anyone planning to run the Heuvelton 3.7 mile foot race that morning should consider that there will be time to do both.
The Heuvelton Labor Day run registration is at 7:30 am with race start at 8 am, at the Heuvelton Village boat launch. The entry fee for the foot race is $10.
The canoe race organizers encourage recreation paddlers to come and join the fun. There will be awards for genders, solo, tandem and mixed in each boat class.
There is often a group that opts to paddle back to the start after the post-race awards.
