MASSENA – Mrs. Marguerite Carvill Dodge, 88, of 790 North Racquette River Road, peacefully passed away Thursday morning, August 30, 2012 at Massena Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since Tuesday. She had been in failing health for the past several years.

Marguerite was born August 18, 1924 in Massena, the daughter of the late Robert and Lula Park Carvill. She attended local schools and graduated from Massena High Schools in 1943. On October 15, 1944, she married John A. Dodge on Racquette River Methodist Church. He predeceased her on December 4, 1987.

Marguerite was a homemaker who was devoted to raising her sons. She also worked at ALCOA for a few years. He was a longtime member of the Grace United Methodist Church and was an avid quilter who taught the art of quilting to many. She also enjoyed painting and spent many winters at her home in St. Petersburg, Florida.

She is survived by her four sons, Richard and Patricia Dodge of Massena; Stephen and Joanne Dodge of Charlotte, North Carolina; Lawrence Dodge of Park City, Utah; George and Kathleen Dodge of Madrid; 4 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, William Carvill formerly of Lisbon now residing in LaBelle, Florida; her sister-in-law, Elaine Carvill of Massena; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Phyllis Chase and her brother Gordon Carvill.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Carville Cemetery, Helena.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, or a charity of one’s choice.
