An Ogdensburg bar will get $20,000 in city funds to purchase its first ever food preparation equipment.
Harold C. Myers, owner of Myers Pub, 17 Commerce St., was approved for the loan Aug. 22 by the Ogdensburg Growth Fund Development Corp., the citys small business lender. He will buy an Auto Fry oven with the money.
Mr. Myers said Thursday that he wants to enable his business to tap into the market of bar patrons who like to eat - especially at night.
Were going to serve pizza and bar food, he said.
Mr. Myers said his bars new enterprise will create two jobs. He has other plans for his business, but declined to discuss them. In accordance with the terms of the loan, Mr. Myers will have five years to pay it back at 4.25 percent interest. He said that he intends to pay it back sooner.
The vote to approve the loan was 6-1-0. Voting in favor were Chairman/Mayor William D. Nelson, James McCarthy, Mindy McNamara, Lori Smithers, Dallas Sutton and City Comptroller Philip A. Cosmo.
Scott M. Wright abstained from the vote because his familys business, Pepsi-Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers Inc., does business with Myers Pub.
