Michael P. McNally, age 53, of Proctor Avenue, Ogdensburg died Wednesday (Aug 29, 2012) at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by the love of his family. He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer and will be profoundly missed by his family and friends. He is the son of James McNally and the late Nadine McNally.

In addition to his father, he is survived by a son, Sean P. McNally of Ogdensburg; two sisters, Shauneen McNally and her husband James Clyne of Delmar, NY and Kathleen Connolly and her husband Thomas of Delmar, NY; two brothers J. Timothy McNally and his wife Lou-Ann and William McNally and his wife Maureen, both of Ogdensburg; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his mother, Nadine, and two brothers, Joseph and Patrick.

Mike was born on January 19, 1959 in Plattsburgh, NY to James McNally and the late Nadine (Neff) McNally. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1977 and continued his education at SUNY Geneseo where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology.

He worked for 29 years for the NYS Department of Corrections and then for the NYS Division of Parole. He was the supervisor of the Parole Office at Ogdensburg Correctional Facility at the time of his retirement.

Mike enjoyed boating, photography, and skiing. He had a great love of the St. Lawrence River and created many special memories of long summer days on the water with his family. He also enjoyed competing in triathlons in his younger years, and was a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge. In 2001, he participated in the NYS Division of Parole’s NYC Relief efforts after September 11, working at the Office of Emergency Management Command Center.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (September 4, 2012 at 11:00am at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Deacon Mark LaLonde officiating.

Calling hours will be held on Monday (September 3, 2012) from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
