PARISHVILLE - A Parishville teenager is planning a musical event at the town beach early next month aimed at raising funds for the Parishville-Hopkinton Music Department.
I entered my idea into the Kids are Key program, sponsored by the
Community Action Angel program, for a way to help my community. I wanted
to do something that would mean a lot to me, if I was the one being helped, Amanda Mason, 13, said.
Themost important thing in my life is music. Every way, shape, and form of music isimportant to me. So I thought Parishville, as an area, doesnt have much that goes
on besides yard sales. So I decided to organize a musical event for any musicians
from the whole county to perform for Parishville and any neighboring community
residents that wanted to come and watch. Any profit of the money that is collected
from this event will go to the Parishville Hopkinton Central School music
department, she said.
She is now working on setting up the concert. Ms. Mason said ParishvillesMusicality concert staff needs volunteers for set up and clean up, preparing and
distributing food, ticket sellers, musical performers, peoplethat would be willing to give children short lessons onanything musical, and classic car owners for acar show.
Items for a raffle would be highly appreciated. Monetary donations for our cause -
the PHCS music program - are greatly appreciated, Ms. Mason said.
