The Ogdensburg Police Departments telephone system is about to get a boost that will make it easier and quicker to make calls inside and outside headquarters.
The department will spend $9,967 to pay for the installation of a new switching system. The current setup is 11 years old, breaks down and has parts that are difficult to impossible to find.
Its the heart of the departments communications system, said Chief Richard J. Polniak Jr. And its hard to get parts anymore.
ADR Telecom, Ogdensburg, will do the installation, which will be done in the departments mechanical room. All 20 of the departments telephones will also replaced.
Im expecting it all to be put in next week, Mr. Polniak said Friday.
