CANTON - A two-car crash Saturday afternoon on County Route 27 injured three, leaving one with severe head and body trauma.
Deputies said Thom T. Byrne, 18, Utica, entered Route 27 from a private access road at approximately 2:30 p.m. Saturday, pulling hs 2003 Honda in front of Andrew M. Bregg, 28, Canton who was driving a 2004 Dodge pickup truck northbound on the highway.
Mr. Byrne and his passenger, Damien Cuellar, 19, Canton, were taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital by Canton Rescue after being removed from their vehicle with the Jaws of Life.
Mr. Byrne suffered severe head and body trauma and was later transported to Fletcher-Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vt.
Mr. Cuellar was treated for a laceration to the head.
Mr. Bregg suffered from a possible broken arm and was taken by private vehicle to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for treatment.
The investigation is continuing and possible charges are pending, according to St. Lawrence County Sheriffs deputies.
