LehrerDance performing Thursday at SUNY Potsdam

POTSDAM - The SUNY Potsdam Department of Theatre and Dance, the College Dance Ensemble and the Student Government Association are pleased to present an upcoming performance by LehrerDance, an inspiring and innovative professional dance company based in Buffalo.

The company will present an evening of dance in the Dunn Hall Dance Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

LehrerDance, begun in July 2007, has already received much national notoriety and critical acclaim. Under the direction of Jon Lehrer, the company showcases Lehrer’s unique choreography and embodies his definitive style, best described as “organically athletic.” Integrating the approach and fluidity of modern dance with the excitement and energy of jazz dance, he has created an expressive, engrossing and ultimately exciting style of movement.

Dance Magazine says LehrerDance is “on the cusp of jazz/modern fusion” and in a recent performance “took the house not so much by storm as by quantum physics.”

As described recently in the Chicago Tribune, LehrerDance is a “small, enviable team” comprised of eight individuals, including 2010 SUNY Potsdam graduate Rachael Humphrey. From breakdancing to modern, ballet to gymnastics, each of the dancers adds their own spice to the LehrerDance mix, keeping it fresh and evolving.
