MASSENA - Members of the St. Lawrence County Chapter of NYS Women celebrated milestones of achievement with charter member Phyllis Prosper.
Phyllis received a visit at the Highland Home and a certificate of achievement from NYS Women Inc. for maintaining membership in this prestigious womens organization for 55 consecutive years. Also receiving membership certificates were Patricia McGrath for 55 years, Debra Langevin for 10 years and Sue Bellor for 35 years.
County President Sally Yeddo presented Phyllis with her certificate. Phyllis began with the organization in 1957 (formerly known as Business and Professional Women), when she was working as secretary and office manager of the Massena Chamber of Commerce. Phyllis had graduated from Waddington High School and earned a degree from Watertown School of Commerce.
Phyllis served as second vice president in charge of membership and as chairperson for public relations. The womens organization dedicated one scholarship in her name, and members continue to laud Phyllis in her continued support for this womens group.
The organization is comprised of business and professional women with its goals to educate and promote: equal rights, economic equity, health care protection, civil rights, and community involvement. If any woman is interested in membership, please contact vice president Miriam Ralston at 769-5002, Secretary Sue Bellor at 769-6146 or President Sally Yeddo at 769-2856.
